进口中开泵又称为单级双吸式离心泵，其主要特征为输送介质的流量大；其工作原理是叶轮安装在泵壳内，并紧固在泵轴上，泵轴由电机直接带动。中开泵壳有一液体吸入与吸入管连接。液体经底阀和吸入管进入泵内，泵壳上的液体排出口与排出管连接，当泵的转速一定时，其压头、流量与叶轮直径有关。同时，其具有经久耐用、使用寿命长、提高工作效率的作用。
选用原则；
1、须满足使用流量和扬程的要求，即要求泵的运行工次点，经常保持在效率高的区间运行，这样既省动力又不易损坏机件。

3、具有良好的抗汽蚀性能，运行平稳、寿命长。

注意事项：
1、起动前，转动泵的转子，应该轻滑均匀。
2、关闭出水闸阀，向泵内注水要保证泵内充满水，无空气窝存。
3、如果泵上装有真空表或压力表，要关闭其与泵相连接的旋基再起动电动机，待转速正常后再打开；然后逐渐打开出水闸阀，如流置过大，可以适当地关小闸阀进行调节；反之流量过小时，将闸阀开大。
4、均匀地拧紧填料压盖上的压紧螺母，使液体成滴状漏出，同时注意填料腔处的温升。
5、停止水泵运转时，要先关闭真空表及压力表的旋塞和出水管路上的闸阀，然后关闭电动机的电源。
